I guess becoming fearless came before I even became a photographer. I went to college and graduate school in the medical sciences and worked in medicine for 10 years before I took a class on film photography by chance. What came after that one semester was a whirlwind; I quit my job and became a photographer with little more than a camera and a lot to prove.

What drives my interest in photography is finding genuine emotion- all of it- the ecstasy, the loneliness, the apprehension, the silliness, the nameless surge of feelings that well up in your chest when you look at a scene. It is not so unlike the experience of working in the emergency room or in transplant, both of which I had.

I travel widely and specialize in two genres- classical music performance and wedding photography. I am forever exploring, forever searching for the next moment.

Where are you located? Do you charge a travel fee for weddings not in your location?

I’m in CT but travel widely with my husband who is a musician about 100-150 days of the year.

How long have you been in business? How many weddings have you photographed as the main photographer?

I began my business in 2022, but have also been working with a destination wedding studio since 2018. I have photographed a few dozen as the main photographer.

Describe your "style" of wedding photography.

My style is vivid with true-to-life colors. I would say that I mostly document what I see in a journalistic way and will direct posing for formal portraits. For candids, I take a lot of inspiration from street photography, where I watch a scene unfold and anticipate when people will come together for amazing reactions.

Is there anything else you'd like to share about yourself?

I’m very easy-going and adaptably outgoing or inobstrusive depending on the situation. I am used to photographing with a completely silent shutter from my experience as a classical music photographer.

In my spare time, I love to play in chamber music groups and freelance as a violinist in local groups.

Sue was absolutely brilliant for our wedding last fall. Clearly very experienced photographing weddings, she asked us what moments we wanted captured prior to the wedding, and included many options we hadn't even considered. On the day, she walked with us around the venue to find the best locations, and the photos testify to her excellent eye for detail. We were particularly impressed by her attention to textures and lighting. We can be a bit camera shy, and appreciated Sue's candor to help keep us from feeling too awkward!
When time came for family photos, Sue kept things orderly and got all Read More the shots we wanted succinctly. Throughout the reception she was excellent for capturing moments that we are very glad to have and remember. I cannot recommend Sue highly enough. Her presence and professionalism greatly improved our wedding, and we will treasure the photos she took for us for years to come.

I dabble quite a bit in photography myself (it's not a job, but a side hustle, for sure), I am very picky when it comes to photographers. Sue was the obvious choice for my wedding. Her style is so wonderfully refined and polished (but not overly so—), and I am over the moon about how the photographs turned out from our New York elopement. The pictures are so iconic—forever grateful. (And how can I not give an extra, 6th star on this review?!)—seriously—she goes the extra mile. Cannot recommend her more highly—!!!!

Sue was the absolute perfect choice to capture our wedding. She has a super fun, down-for-anything personality, so if you want specific shots or maybe have an idea that’s a bit unconventional, she’ll go for it! I specifically remember her diving on the ground of the dance floor to get some really cool pictures; you can’t expect anyone to do that, but she will for her art! She was with us for the entire day, on time and ready while we were getting ready in the morning, and she stayed until all of the action was over. She also did our engagement photos, which was another great experience! She Read More has a great eye and was able to direct us into the space (The Highline in NYC, which can be very busy!) to get some really beautiful photos. At the end of the night it started to rain, and she asked us to get in the street for some really magical rainy photos that I wish I could upload here! Sue is a treasure. Sue is super easy going and a consummate professional. We did one goofy photoshoot and one more serious one and we loved how they came out. She finds the right mix of being present to direct you while also making you feel at ease so the photos feel natural. And she's great at photoshop for post editing, which can be underappreciated.
