~ I watch 300+ movies per year. It’s one of my main sources of inspiration for wedding photography.
~ I have a rare form of synesthesia called Ordinal Linguistic Personification. It’s super weird, but it makes life more interesting.
~ I love to travel. I recently flew to Bogotá, Colombia for a root canal and you wouldn’t believe how inexpensive it was.
~ My wife, Moira, and I have been together for 19 years and not a day goes by that I don't wonder just what in the hell she sees in me.
No travel fees to most places in Colorado.
A little over 250 weddings over the past 19 years.
We do things a bit differently. We specialize in nontraditional wedding photography, which means we’re not big on taking standard, posey wedding photos. Our aim is to create works of art that are unique to you as a couple and worthy of hanging above your mantlepiece. And we limit our calendar to 15 weddings per year so we can pour every ounce of our blood, sweat and tears into each wedding.
Our most popular wedding package is $7,500 and includes a full day of coverage (typically 10-12 hours, but we don't limit time), two photographers, a password-protected online gallery, high-res images with the rights to print, and a photo album.
We typically like to get things started with a phone call or Zoom call. For in-person meetings, we like breweries or coffee shops.
I have a bachelor's degree in journalism (concentration in photojournalism) from Central Michigan University.
One of my first jobs after college was for Paramount Pictures. I was fired after one day.

Our wedding photos are stunning. Every single Read More image takes me right back to that magical day. They captured the moments we experienced, the ones we missed, and so many candid memories that tell beautiful, unscripted stories. The colors are brilliant! Jesse and Moira have a rare gift—not only do they document your day, they bring it to life again and again with every photo. If I could go back in time, I would absolutely hire them again without hesitation and I’d make sure they were there for our night-before event too! That’s the only thing I’d change.
Truly, my heart is full. Thank you, Jesse and Moira! You are simply the best.
That confidence and Read More anxiety was delicately handled by Moira more than anyone. She was there to ask and answer every question, did an INCREDIBLE job consulting with us (particularly during the final album design call), and even came to my rescue with liquid IV in the restroom when I fell ill at our reception. Her experience (and general personality) created the safest space for me to share not only my happiness, but also my post-wedding blues and perfectionist/overthinker regrets, which she was always able to validate and reframe in a way that made it easy for me to let go of what didn't go "right." Like when I said I wish we'd done a rehearsal, she said that even people who do rehearsals don't get it right - instant relief. There were SO many moments like that before and after our wedding; never any judgment, only the most comforting support.
I'm so incredibly grateful to have found Jesse & Moira on instagram by chance. It was a peaceful pleasure to be whisked away in their car to the most breathtaking landscapes we've ever stood on. They captured exactly what I hoped for, including my husband & I sharing a celebratory joint after the ceremony; it was such a gift to feel so freely ourselves on that gorgeous day.
I'd get married all over again just to spend another day working with the La Plantes. Since I fell ill by the end of the night, we will absolutely be returning in a few years to do (at least) an alt session under the stars. But despite being barely able to stand upright, we did capture a couple of astral shots on the ski slopes that night that I'll treasure forever.
Seriously, these are the photos I want shown at my funeral so my friends & family never forget how beautiful it was. They captured it all perfectly.
