I love to capture the unplanned candid shenanigans just as much as a dreamy portrait combined with the epic views of your location.

ALL couples celebrated. I'm in the LGBTQ+ community and body positive. I'm upbeat all of the time and my images reflect my excitement for everyone who gets to chose each other in every unique way possible. I'll help you into great light so your candid moments are the most beautiful, flattering and natural. Great communication, stunning images, and a supremely fun experience is what I pride myself on. Where are you located? Do you charge a travel fee for weddings not in your location?

I'm based on North Island, New Zealand and serve all of New Zealand, pacific islands, and destinations abroad. My specialty is planning dream-date style elopements and hiking elopements anywhere and everywhere.

How long have you been in business? How many weddings have you photographed as the main photographer?

I was 7 when I discovered photography and shot my first wedding when I was 16. Wedding photography has been my full time job since 2012, so I've lost count of the couples I've shot, but it's well into the hundreds.

Describe your "style" of wedding photography.

My style is romantic and modern, bright colors and dramatic compositions. I want to create photos that push the limits of my imagination - and yours. My posing style is very smushy and the more giggling the better!

Do you have a studio where we can meet in-person?

I love to use zoom or phone calls to meet with clients before booking.

What are your professional degrees, credentials, affiliations? Have you taken any recent educational workshops or classes?

I am almost exclusively self-taught, while taking inspiration from many workshops, tutorials and lighting training. I am inspired by elements from all different styles of photography - especially landscapes - and bring them into your elopement photography.

Is there anything else you'd like to share about yourself?

I love cats (like, a lot!), camping, birdwatching, maps, national parks, archery, and raspberries.

It will be hard to describe and review how amazing of a photographer and person Lucy is. But I’m going to try. I found Lucy by accident, not even needing a photographer quite yet. But after seeing her “cat birthing” photo shoot and learning that she was an award winning elopment photographer, I had to keep her in my back pocket for when the time came.

Well the time came and my (now) husband and I decided that a private elopment at one of our favorite national parks (Crater Lake) would be the perfect start to our marriage. And after reading Lucy’s bio and background and seeing how amazing Read More her portfolio looked, we knew she was the one.

Lucy was with us pretty much every step of the way of our elopment. We had multiple calls and texts conversations leading up to our big day. She set up a perfect-for-us blueprint of our day after getting to know us. She even went out the year prior to scout out locations and found us an even better spot than the one we original looked at in the park! She helped us with permits for the park and scoping out trails. She even helped us find our dream officiant, Jimmie! I didn’t have to worry about my wedding day because Lucy had it all planned (and backup planned) out!

Day of, she was with us from just before sunrise to well after sunset. She made us feel comfortable in front of a camera and we often didn’t even know when she was taking a picture. We had a private elopment. The only things we cared about was doing what we wanted for our wedding day, and most important thing we needed was an officiant and a really good photographer. Lucy is THE BEST! You can stop your search now and book her, you'll be so happy you did : ) From before the elopement, during, and after, Lucy's attention to detail and customer service is ABOVE and BEYOND! She was easy to book, we did a free Zoom call to make sure we were a good fit. From there, the process was so simple and stress-free. We painted a picture of what our dream elopement looked like and then Lucy ran with it, proposing different itineraries and vetting vendors (Jeep rental, horseback riding, etc). We decided on a 1.5 day package in Crested Butte, CO and I'm so glad we did! Read More Basically we were on our dream date and Lucy documented the whole thing, giving us more gorgeous photos than we ever could have hoped for. She even scouted the area before we got there so she knew all the BEST SPOTS for photos. She really means it when she says you'll look epic and she'll get dirty! And bonus - her husband is a chef. When we canceled our regular wedding to elope in a National Park, we knew there was one thing we still absolutely needed: an incredible photographer to capture the magic of our adventure. We had a photographer booked, but due to their being a scammer, we were left without a photographer just a few weeks before the big day.

Then, we found Lucy. Lucy Schultz, the absolute GOAT. Lucy went above and beyond, on every single aspect of our elopement. She helped us choose Yosemite as our ceremony Park, and gave us her incredible Yosemite elopement guide. When we suggested one ceremony spot, she Read More used her expertise to help us choose a different spot, telling us it would be way better (she was completely correct).

We told her we wanted to hike all day, rain or shine. And she was game for our crazy plan. She planned out the whole route, and gave us an hour-by-hour itinerary for the day (with plenty of flexibility built in). She met with us whenever we wanted to talk, and was always responsive to texts or emails. She sent us a questionnaire to get to know us, and by the end of the questions we could really tell that Lucy deeply, truly cared about us as a couple.

Then came the elopement day! Lucy was up and ready to go with us at 4:00 AM, ready to hike. She hiked up to Sentinel Dome with us, and we made it up with plenty of time before our sunrise ceremony. She helped wrangle the wedding dress, and coordinated our first look, spontaneous sneaky stick-on mustache and all!

When she officiated the ceremony Lucy put all the info she got from the questionnaire to good use, tailoring her remarks as officiant to us and our relationship, balancing humor with sentiment and perfectly setting the mood of the ceremony, and playing one of our favorite songs as we ended the ceremony, celebrating our new marriage.

Lucy then hiked with us for another 16 miles and a total of 13 hours. Through rain, brutal inclines, brutal declines, thirst, glaring sun, and a stunning rainbow, she not only hiked with us, but hiked ahead of us, capturing incredible photos along the way.

On that hike, we formed a strong friendship with Lucy, who really understood us as a couple and as individuals. She was the exact kind of kooky that clicked with our craziness. We were laughing the whole way, even as we blistered, chafed, and sighed when we realized we had waaaay more hiking left than we thought we did.

And the photos! The photos Lucy took not only managed to capture the entirely surreal and gorgeous Yosemite scenery, they also captured the pure, raw emotion of the day. When we look at the photos, we not only have our breath taken away by how stunning they are, we also have our heartstrings tugged by how clear our memories are. We can see the love, joy, and laughter of the day in every photo. As we looked through the gallery we kept saying "I remember that! Oh my god I'm so glad she got that moment!"

We can't exaggerate when we say that Lucy is THE elopement photographer. We both believe that our elopement was better with Lucy than it would have been without her. BLOT/TLDR: I’m going to save you time and tell you to hire Lucy for your elopement/engagement/all photo needs immediately. She is single-handedly responsible for not only helping us plan our amazing Yosemite and Redwoods Elopement but for delivering the most stunning images of my wife and I that I have ever seen. She is talented, hilarious, and went the extra mile (more like 100 miles) to make sure we had the best wedding ever. Don’t waste your time with anyone else!

Planning:
My wife and I knew that we wanted to elope, and we knew that we wanted our commitment ceremony to take place in Read More the midst of sequoias – some of the largest trees on the planet. With that general framework in mind we reached out to Lucy with the idea of eloping at Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park. Not only did we get some general pointers, after signing on we immediately received an in-depth PDF detailing the entire elopement process from involving friends and family, booking travel and lodging, planning out details, choosing vendors (including dress and tux recommendations), setting up day-of activities, crafting timelines, and the actual ceremony itself. I’m talking about almost 60 pages of things to think about! After we had some time to digest, we decided that we wanted two days of photos – a ceremony day in Sequoia and a second day of photos at Yosemite National Park.

Lucy was extremely communicative and helped us plan an ideal timeframe for our elopement. Wildfires and other natural disasters can make some parks completely inaccessible, and she was able to provide guidance on best times to visit (there’s some foreshadowing here). Once we had landed on a date, she guided us through the permitting process, advising us on how to make sure our day wasn’t interrupted by park rangers looking for an infraction.

A short while after finalizing plans and obtaining our permit from the park, we learned that the entirety of Sequoia would be closed due to natural disaster. Lucy jumped into action, providing us with a whole slew of alternatives. To pull a direct quote from one of her emails: “You guys want the TREES and we're gonna get you the TREES!!!!” She then worked closely with us to formalize our new plans – a ceremony day in Yosemite and a second day of photos in the Redwoods 9 hours up the coast. Once again she was invaluable in getting all of the correct paperwork in order to make sure we weren’t overlooking anything.

To summarize the value of Lucy’s planning, we absolutely could not have done this without her and if I had even half of her diligence in this area I’d have a lot more of my life together.

Ceremony and Photo Days:
Lucy was an absolute joy to work with and has an incredible ability to capture the most memorable, intimate moments. She memorialized emotions that my wife and I didn’t even know we were expressing until we received our photo albums. The love, warmth, joy, nervousness, excitement, and ~feel~ of each of the days absolutely shine through her work. I had read other reviews of hers that mentioned her talent in capturing what the day felt like but I never quite understood what they meant until now. Looking through our albums I’m reminded of all of the little things that made it special and I’m so happy that we have a way to relive our experience for the rest of our lives.

I’d also like to point out Lucy’s other traits that make her so good at her job. She’s willing to do just about anything to get the perfect photo – lying in the dirt, lying in the road, wading through the icy snowmelt flooding the park, climbing her husband’s shoulders to get an angle from 10 ft in the air, scouting perfect locations on her off time, spending 11+ HOURS with us on our ceremony day, helping my wife over downed trees and over streams, and most importantly, officiating. Lucy crafted a perfect ceremony that was custom-tailored to who we are as a couple. She donned a fake mustache, quoted The Princess Bride, and solemnized our marriage while still somehow getting a bazillion photos in the process. Her double-duty as photographer and officiant was a really huge bonus.

Photos Themselves:
The actual photos Lucy delivered are by far the best I’ve seen. I sometimes can’t believe they’re real, and I was in them! We received all different types of formats, angles, and compositions, from panoramas to double-exposures, mini planets and more. My wife and I have spent far too much time oogling them and I can’t wait to get them printed onto canvas and other projects. Have I mentioned the sheer number of finished, edited photos? We received 1,351 images that all look amazing and take us back to that point in time.

Long story short, you should absolutely hire Lucy. Right now. It’ll be the best wedding decision you make (aside from choosing your lovely spouse)!

Lucy is a master at her craft. My partner and I have never done a photo shoot before so we were nervous going into it. Her direction and expertise made us feel comfortable and confident during the whole process. From her communication skills to her good humor she created a fantastic experience for us and of course we ended up with some amazing photos!

We first reached out to Lucy in June of 2022. Once we settled on eloping, we googled elopement photographers and found her website with her stunning photos. We set up a time for her to talk with us over Zoom anew were sold. Just her personality makes you come out of your shell and kinda just de-stresses you. We went over options, my (now) husband and I talked about it, and we decided on New Zealand in December 2022 for 10 days. Lucy told me later that she thought it was too good to be true. She was familiar with New Zealand and wanted to go back, so she was immediately on board (I mean who Read More wouldn’t want to go to the most beautiful place on earth?) From start to finish, Lucy (and her cool husband Steven) was amazing. From finding places for us to have our ceremony, to cool places to eat and hike and have fun, to filling us in on cultural customs so we didn’t look like a couple of idiots. The odds were against us this entire trip. My husband and I missed our flight, the airport lost our bags which had a ton of our wedding stuff in it (which is how I ended up getting married in red vans), my husband lost his wedding pants, it was a mess. The universe wanted us to work hard for this and boy, did we (mostly Lucy and Steven). I didn’t feel like we were dealing with some out of touch, stuffy, professional-type. It felt like we had taken the trip of a lifetime with good friends, who just so happened to also be a photographer/wedding planner/whatever the word is for somebody who chills me out and makes me feel beautiful on my wedding day. I truly feel like Lucy and Steven will always hold a special place in our hearts from this trip. She was invested in us. This isn’t just a job for her. She truly, undeniably cares about her clients. There were many laughs, tears, and Lucy’s teachings about how “no, you shouldn’t feed the Keas (parrots) because they will take your stuff and fly away with it.” I’m so so so happy with how our trip and our photos turned out and I would 10000% recommend Lucy to anybody. I find myself smiling any time I see any of the photos and it’s truly a treasure I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. (And yes, like her website says, she DID indeed get dirty.)

RENAE + STORY

Lucy was more than we could have hoped for in our wedding photographer! We knew she was the real deal from our initial meeting. She took the time to get to know us, and we could tell that she was more than prepared when it came time to discuss our wedding in Utah. Before the wedding, Lucy sent us vow books with the topography of Snow Canyon State Park which was such a sweet gesture and was something we looked forward to using on our special day. My husband and I booked Lucy for the whole day, and we were intrigued by her suggestion to do a sunrise morning shoot at the overlook the morning of Read More our wedding. This experience did not disappoint and set the tone for the whole day. The hike to get to the overlook was filled with conversations that made us feel like we had known Lucy for years. Once we got to the overlook, Lucy made suggestions for different photo opportunities but also let things unfold naturally. Her thoughtful and customized trail mix for my husband and I was a sweet surprise and definitely needed after our hike! Later that day, Lucy continued to bring her awesome energy and good vibes at our first look, ceremony, and reception (despite being up before the sun came up to do our sunrise shoot). Right from the very first day we met Lucy, (by virtual video call), we knew she was the photographer we wanted to capture our elopement in California as she was so welcoming, friendly, bubbly and put us at ease instantly!

As we are from the UK we didn’t know the first thing about eloping, (let alone eloping in a foreign country!) but Lucy went, quite literally, above and beyond for us. She answered ALL of our questions, helped us book activities, provided us with a full day itinerary compromising of 9 locations (wow!), literally flew across the country to us, enquired about things we had Read More not even thought of (such as current campfire regulations) and actually even officiated our marriage. How can anything be better than that?!

So when the day of the elopement arrived and we met Lucy for the first time in person, it was like meeting up with an old friend. We clicked instantly, and the day was filled with so much laughter, jokes, puns and in depth conversations of our respective ‘weird’ accents (haha). Just the three of us.

We already knew of Lucy’s talents as a photographer from looking at her amazing blog (which everyone should check out by the way!) but when we received the ‘sneak peak’ photographs through (only two days after the elopement itself may I add - this woman is FAST) we were absolutely blown away. She captured all of the love, laughter, sweet moments and grocery store pit-stops of our amazing day absolutely perfectly. Everyone who has seen the photographs are now wanting to fly to the US and have Lucy as their photographer!

But Lucy is so much more than a bombshell photographer, she is now our new life long friend who shared the best day of our lives with us and we cannot recommend or thank her enough.

We first contacted Lucy after our venue recommended her as a preferred vendor. Her portfolio immediately stood out to us for the relaxed but artful candid-style that predominated her work, the incredible colors, the unique details, and the stunning outdoor scenery that complemented the couples she shot without distracting from them. Her vibe was exactly what we were looking for, and the way her personality shone through on her website drew us in even further. After an Read More initial Zoom meeting (in the dark days of early COVID lockdown, no less), she had answered all of our questions, recommended the perfect engagement shoot site, and made me feel optimistic and excited about wedding planning again despite all the pandemic’s best attempts to derail that! Her candor and easy sense of humor made us both even more convinced that she would be the perfect person to capture the memories of our wedding, and we booked with her immediately following that call.

Neither of us love being photographed, but you would never be able to tell that the final product… Lucy went above and beyond to make us both feel at ease and like we were having a good time from day 1 with our engagement photo shoot. Of course, this day started out with a torrential Colorado mountain downpour. As we huddled under our rain jackets, wondering whether we should postpone, she calmed us down and said, “just give it a minute, I have a good feeling about this.” Sure enough, five minutes later, the rain cleared and the sun brought out a magical double rainbow (which never fails to elicit gasps of awe from the friends and family we continue to share our photos with). I am so glad we did that shoot so we could have a chance to practice working together ahead of our wedding – even though the shoot took place almost a year before our big day, Lucy was meticulous in checking in as the months passed. She made sure to circle back with us close to the wedding date to discuss what we loved the most and which photos didn’t make our top picks so that she could adjust what she shot at the wedding accordingly.

Now the wedding…once again, Lucy went above and beyond for us and made the day easy thanks to her communicativeness and adaptability. Throughout the process of getting ready, she captured the perfect combination of tender and hilarious moments that make me smile every time I look through them. Her adaptability and quick thinking also stood out: we’d planned to take our couple’s portraits a short walk inside Rocky Mountain National Park, but due to road closures in the park, we ended up hiking much further than we thought we would. When things started looking tight on time, and it was clear we wouldn’t make it to the specific site she’d originally had in mind, Lucy ventured off into the forest, literally running through the trees until she found us another option, making it worth the hike and keeping everything on track and on time.

The ceremony and reception passed by in a blur, but thanks to Lucy’s stunning work we’re able to look back on and cherish all the little details that flew by too quickly in the moment. Both my husband and I were especially impressed by Lucy’s handling of the family portraits; we have a huge combined family, but Lucy got us through this part of the process in record time without missing a shot while deftly and delicately navigating the sometimes complicated relationship dynamics she’d made sure to get intel on from us in advance.
