Contact Erika Tanith

Hi, I'm Erika. I love weddings, and I love photography, and that's probably two big things you want from your wedding photographer. I'm not so keen on spending hours ordering people to line up and give that weird smile that you only ever do for photographs - you know the one! So I kinda don't. Sure, a few staged pictures are nice, but what I enjoy most, and the pictures that I think people like the most, are the natural ones. The ones where you don't know the picture is even being taken. The ones where you look like you and you look at the picture and you think 'wow, I was having so much fun at that moment', and not 'that's nice, but I felt so uncomfortable'.

This type of photography is known as reportage, documentary, or photojournalism, but what it really means is that you get to spend your day with the people you love and have an amazing time. Then you get to relive it all through some beautiful photographs.

Where are you located? Do you charge a travel fee for weddings not in your location?

I'm based in Chopwell, a small village on the edge of Northumberland, Gateshead, and County Durham. I cover all of the North East of England but there's an additional time and travel charge for weddings over 150 miles, or 2 hours from my location. Where appropriate there may be an overnight surcharge to ensure your photographer is in the best condition for your day.

How long have you been in business? How many weddings have you photographed as the main photographer?

I shot my first wedding back in 2004, and I've been a full time wedding photographer since 2012.

Describe your "style" of wedding photography.

I'm primarily a photojournalist, I like capturing weddings as they happen. I'm not really into big production pieces for weddings as I think they detract from what should be a great day with your family and friends. It's nice to have a few traditional photographs of all the family, some nice ones of the two of you, but I'm mostly about you guys having a great day.

Do you have a studio where we can meet? Do you use Skype?

You're welcome to pop over and see me, I will probably ply you with cups of tea and make you admire my pet chickens.

What are your professional degrees, credentials, affiliations? Have you taken any recent educational workshops or classes?

I have a degree in media studies which incorporated many aspects of photography, and videography, lighting, post production, image manipulation and all sorts of fun things.

Erika shot my wedding and she did it with grace and style. It's only one day and it's pretty special but you don't get much left over after a week. Erika made sure our memories were cemented in stunning shots, touched up like you wouldn't believe, in personalised and well thought out albums that will never date.

She listens to what you want and delivers just that but she'll certainly, very gently, talk you out of ridiculous mistakes that you'll regret later. The wisdom she brings to her work is phenomenal and, boy! Does she care about doing a good job!

No matter what package you go for, Read More the service and product you get will be worth more than you'll pay. Her personality will bring out the best in your guests and she's like a bride whisperer for calming your jitters. In short Erika made our wedding and we will never in our lifetimes be able to thank her enough.
