Hi, my name is John Ruddock. I grew up on the California coast in Half Moon Bay. Inspired by its beauty, I fell in love with video and photography at an early age and later received my BA in film. I have since moved my focus to photography. Because of my degree, I bring a very cinematic eye to my images and am always ready to catch the right moment. I specialize in weddings, proposals, engagements, and families. I really enjoy shooting on the beach and with over 30 years spent living on the coast I can recommend all the best spots. Where are you located? Do you charge a travel fee for weddings not in your location?
I am based in Salinas, CA. I charge .50 cents per mile driven.
How long have you been in business? How many weddings have you photographed as the main photographer?
I have been working professionally for 2 years and have covered 11 weddings as the main photographer.
Describe your "style" of wedding photography.
I enjoy shooting posed images as well as candid although I think catching great candid shots is more fulfilling. When editing photos, I like to keep them looking and feeling real while enhancing certain aspects like mood and lighting.
What's the typical wedding coverage package that you offer? What is the price?
I have three packages to choose from. The first is booking my by the hour at $595. The second package is called "The Big Day". This is a three hour booking at $1495 that includes an engagement session on a different date. The third package I offer is an all day booking (8 hours) at $2495. This also includes an engagement session on a different date.
Do you have a studio where we can meet in-person?
I do not have a studio. FaceTime and Zoom are preferred.
What are your professional degrees, credentials, affiliations? Have you taken any recent educational workshops or classes?
I have a degree in film which has trained me to have a very cinematic eye when shooting photography.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
I will bring a fun sense of humor to your wedding. In the past I have written and performed stand up comedy so I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun!
