Hello! I'm a Chicago-based wedding and commercial photographer, available for assignments both locally and abroad. I help my clients relive their day, share their story, and keep a piece of the experience. Whether your wedding is traditional or quirky, epic or intimate, local or halfway across the world, my role is to be the calm within the storm, and guarantee that your photos will serve as a gateway to that moment in time. I accomplish this by searching for moments and capturing the day as it happens. This comes from my years as a full-time news photographer, and that experience shapes my approach to each and every wedding. Together with your personality, vision and creativity, I will ensure that your wedding is captured, printed, and beautifully expressed for generations to come.

Where are you located? Do you charge a travel fee for weddings not in your location?

I'm located in the Wicker Park neighborhood in Chicago, IL. I do not charge a travel fee for events in the City of Chicago or surrounding suburbs. If your event is outside of this (downstate Illinois, or neighboring Michigan, Wisconsin or Indiana), it simply depends on your specific event plans and location. Having a destination wedding? How long have you been in business? How many weddings have you photographed as the main photographer?

Before moving into wedding and commercial photography, I was a full-time staff photojournalist at Pioneer Press Newspapers in Chicago (2000-2009). I started photographing weddings part-time in 2002, and then full-time in 2009. I generally photograph 20-30 per year, so at this point I've photographed hundreds of weddings.

Describe your "style" of wedding photography.

I blend modern documentary wedding photography, with creative dynamic portraiture. Ultimately my goal for every couple I work with is to help them relive their wedding day through the images I create. I accomplish this by looking for sparks of emotion, defining moments, and documenting the day as it unfolds.

What's the typical wedding coverage package that you offer? What is the price?

My wedding photography services start at $4750 and include:

- Associate second photographer
- Sharable online gallery
- Images in both color and black & white
- Access to the full resolution images

Do you have a studio where we can meet? Do you use Skype?

I generally meet clients in-person or over zoom. If you prefer an in-person meeting, my office is in Wicker Park.

What are your professional degrees, credentials, affiliations? Have you taken any recent educational workshops or classes?

Bachelors Degree in Journalism, University of Illinois

My work has been recognized by the Wedding Photojournalist Association and Illinois Press Photographers Association.

I've also been featured in Modern Luxury Weddings and The Knot Chicago magazine.

Is there anything else you'd like to share about yourself?

Lately I’ve been enjoying fixing up our old house with my wife Claire. I also love traveling somewhere new, or going west to visit my family, skiing, hiking in the mountains, strumming my guitar (still learning), and spending time with friends around the fire pit.

We got married in October and Jason was the best! He and his assistants were very professional while also being fun and nice.
