WHY WE LOVE THIS PHOTO: Sometimes, simple is good—the little black dress, songs with a straightforward beat, dark chocolate—and this photo by photographer Stefan Sanders. We love the depth and richness of the red outfit that are brought out by the play of light and shadow. The background is black, to match the ribbon on the hat, and allows for no distraction. The fact that we can’t see her eyes in the reflection brings our attention even more strongly to the bold red colour of her outfit.
