Shot across the courtyard of a tall building, this photograph makes exceptional use the graphic nature of the architecture. The rigidly vertical and horizontal lines in the right two-thirds of the frame contrast wonderfully with the distorted, curved lines on the left—and all the lines lead us in toward our subject. There, strong directional lighting pops him out from the scene and creates an amazingly enlarged shadow behind him.
