The Miracle

On my way out of the hospital, Polina, the mother, thanked me for photographing and my response was - wait, don’t thank me yet, because I don’t remember whether I have photographed the important moments at all, I remember only that I was crying all the time.
This was the most exciting photoshoot that I have ever done. A new life being born is a pure miracle. They waited for Hannah for so long. To be honest, I experienced this day more from the perspective of a mother and a human being, rather than from a photographer’s point of view. And maybe this was the reason for the photographs to be so emotional.
I stayed with the family for a week, lived in their home, I experienced all the fears and the excitement that they went through. I live five hours away, so when the date of the term was close, I went to stay with them and wait. We spent 5 days at their home, going to the hospital for ultrasounds few times. Then they took Polina in the hospital, where we spend two days. Nothing happened on the first day, but on the second, while we were having lunch at the hospital cafeteria with Frank - the father, Polina called and said - I think you should come, you should come now, it’s happening. Two hours later, Hannah cried and announced herself to this world.
